This work helped me recenter myself, connect what I’m doing with how I feel about the workplace
Benjamin initially believed that work was a means to an end - a future gain, retirement goals. Together, we unpacked some of his deep beliefs around the value of work, what he wanted, and how to draw satisfaction from work. And - we landed him his ideal job in the process!
“I had never opened up to someone about what I wanted for my career, because I hadn’t really thought about it critically. You work to pay the bills, rent, until you retire at 65. This work helped me recenter myself, connect what I’m doing with how I feel about the workplace. Work doesn’t have to be a burden. It’s something that I can work on, on an ongoing basis and draw satisfaction from it. It gave me the tools to do that. This sounds like a buzzword, but it felt like self actualization.
I was in an intermediate place and I was unsure if this would truly be helpful, or applicable. It was. We made my job at the time better for both me and my company. And, the work was critical in helping me get the job I have now - my ideal job. I had clarity on why I wanted it along with a more coherent story for my interviews.
I was skeptical about Rikki’s working style, because other coaches have prepackaged almost transactional solutions. But it wasn’t going to help with fundamental questions I had about my career path. But working with Rikki, I was surprised how easy it felt. How I could share in my own way, and then Rikki could cut through, detangle my thoughts, and connect them to the broader themes that drive me.
My first thought of who to recommend Rikki to is everyone. But we can’t clone her, and I still want her! So, if you’re someone in a less straightforward, more creative, complex role, or if you’re a people manager for a big team - work with Rikki.”
